Charles County Department of Health Now Offering
Vaccine to Prevent Cervical Cancer

The Charles County Department of Health will now be offering the vaccine
Gardisil to women ages 19-26 years of age at no cost. This vaccine will
protect women from four forms of HPV (human papilloma virus) that can
cause cervical cancer. It is recommended that women receive the vaccine
before becoming sexual active, but it can be given to women even if that is
not the case. The vaccine will be given by appointment through the Adult
Immunization Clinic. For females ages 11-18 years of age the same service
is being offered through the Child Immunization Clinic. For an appointment
or further information call the Charles County Department of Health at 301-
609-6900 and select the appointment secretary or extension 6018.
