Outreach Worker I/Breastfeeding Peer Counselor

The Charles County Department of Health has an immediate job opportunity for a full time position to work in the WIC Program. Duties include but not limited to: Provide paraprofessional support to the WIC program and promote basic breastfeeding information and guidance to WIC pregnant and breastfeeding mothers. Qualifications: High School Diploma/GED. Has breastfed at least one baby (does not have to be currently breastfeeding). Basic computer skills. Ability to communicate effectively promoting breastfeeding. Able to complete breastfeeding training classes provided by the program. Ability to speak Spanish preferred but not required. Health Services Specialist III
STD & HIV/AIDS Disease Intervention Specialist

Duties include but not limited to: Plan, develop, organize, implement and coordinate the disease intervention activities of the Sexually Transmitted Diseases and HIV/ADIS Partner Notification Programs in the Southern Maryland Tri County Area.
Qualifications: Possession of a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with a major or a minimum of thirty credits in one of the biological or physical sciences. Classes MUST be listed on the MS-100 (State Application) or transcripts MUST be attached.
Experience: Three years of experience in public health investigation work. Applicants must indicate on the application form the courses and total number of credits in the required courses. Applicants may substitute one additional year of experience for the thirty credits in one of the biological and/or physical sciences. Applicants may substitute a Master’s degree in Public Health from an accredited college or university for one year of the required experience. Medical Care Program Associate I

The Charles County Department of Health has a job opportunity for a full time Medical Care Program Associate position to work with Maryland Children Health Insurance Program (MCHP). Duties include but are not limited to: Apply, interpret and process medical assistance application data and determines eligibility for State Medical Assistance programs. Education: Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate. Experience: One year of clerical experience applying policies in a medical care, health insurance or federal or State entitlement program. Notes: Additional general clerical experience may be substituted on a year-for-year basis for the required education. Thirty credit hours from an accredited college or university may be substituted for the required experience. This is a full-time, contractual position, no benefits. Salary: $13.63/hr.
