The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention ( CDC) released new 2017 data showing sustained increases in reported Sexually Transmitted Disease (STD) nationwide for the third year in a row. The CDC estimates that nearly 20 million new cases of sexually transmitted diseases occur each year in the United States and one-half are among young people aged 15- to 24-year.
The Charles County Department of Health encourages all to protect your health and get tested. Many STD’s are curable and all are treatable. Talk with your doctor about your risk and if testing is necessary.
Confidential STD testing and treatment are offered at the Health Department Monday – Friday from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm. Walk-ins are accepted, appointments are offered. For an appointment call 301-609-6900.
