Health Partnership of Charles County The
Partnerships for a Healthier Charles County was established in
1994 to serve as a community health network and as a forum for
collaboration and sharing of information between county agencies
and services. Members of the Partnerships for a Healthier
Charles County include the local health department, local
hospital, public schools, government agencies, community
college, community organizations, private providers, churches,
and businesses. The mission of the organization is to create a
future through partnerships and collaborations, in which the
people of Charles County can be: gainfully employed, educated,
living in safety and comfort, and enjoying good health. Priority
areas of the Partnerships include cancer and tobacco-related
disease and chronic disease prevention.
The Cancer Team is a sub-committee of the Partnerships for a
Healthier Charles County. This team meets once a month to
collaboratively plan and implement health initiatives regarding
cancer.
The Chronic Disease Prevention Team is the second sub-committee
of the Partnerships for a Healthier Charles County. This team
also meets once a month to discuss and develop projects and
programs geared toward reducing the incidence of chronic disease
in Charles County.
