The Maryland State Department of Health and Mental Hygiene recently launched an initiative to provide a framework for accountability, local action and public engagement to improve the health of Marylanders. This process is called SHIP or the Maryland State Health Improvement Process. The state has identified six vision areas for improvement that include a set of 39 critical health measures. The Charles County Department of Health in collaboration with University of Maryland Charles Regional Medical Center and the Partnerships for a Healthier Charles County will be focusing efforts to work through the SHIP process and engage the residents of Charles County to attain a higher level of health and wellness.
